The African Diaspora in the Art of Miguel Covarrubias:
Driven by Color, Shaped by Cultures
This wide-ranging exhibition explored representations of people of African descent in the art of Covarrubias. It included drawings, paintings, prints and books depicting African Americans, Afro-Mexicans, Afro-Cubans, Haitians, and West, North and East Africans, as well as peoples of color within the Pacific Rim.

It featured drawings illustrating the intellectuals and performers in Harlem and in the rural South, as well as their letters, newspaper articles and other memorabilia.
